The Rosary

Pray The Rosary Daily…

For over 500 years, the Rosary has served as a visible Catholic symbol of devotion in honor of the Virgin Mary. The word “Rosary” comes from the Latin meaning a “crown or garland of roses.” Each Hail Mary symbolizes the gift of a rose to our Lady. While saying the Rosary, we join with Mary in our prayers to the Father. Mother Mary has promised us, “You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.”

The Rosary engages us in blessed prayer both vocal, saying Our Fathers and Hail Marys, and mental, reflecting on the mysteries of the life of Christ and His Mother. The Rosary is divided into five decades representing an event in Christ’s life. There are four sets of “Mysteries of the Rosary:” Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious.

As Pope John Paul II has reminded us, “We need to return to the practice of family prayer and prayer for families.” The Rosary presents a wonderful opportunity to follow the Pope’s guidance. What’s more, for those of us who choose to answer the late Holy Father’s call and our present pope, Benedict XVI’s charge to re-evangelize the world in the timeless truths of our Catholic faith, no other devotion or tool is more powerful or distinctively Catholic than our Lady’s lasso — the Holy Rosary.

or email me at: brown.publishing@yahoo.com, and I will gladly send you my FREE CATHOLIC EVANGELIZATION FLYER entitled “How to Pray the Rosary.” Make as many copies as you like. Leave them at your church and parish (with permission, of course), give them to family or friends, distribute them at senior centers, youth organizations, restaurants, local businesses (again, with permission), or place them on car windshields, etc. (where legal). Use your imagination. Who knows. Your simple efforts may, in fact, be the very source that brings a lost soul you may never even meet into the arms of our Blessed Mother, and through her, to the saving fullness of our Catholic faith.
